£69k Community Support Fund News

The forThetford Neighbourhood Board and Norfolk Community Foundation are today delighted to announce that nine Thetford organisations have been awarded a combined total of £69,000 through the first round of the Community Support Fund forThetford.

The grants, ranging from £1,220 to £10,000, go directly to voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations working at the heart of Thetford. Projects supported include men's wellbeing services, cancer support, vocational training bursaries, youth boxing facilities, community cricket, free furniture for people in need, garden clearances for residents experiencing hardship, and repairs to the town's Scout Hut.

Jo Pearson, Chair of the Thetford Pride in Place Board, said:"This is exactly what the Community Support Fund is here for, putting money directly into the hands of the grassroots organisations that make Thetford the community it is.

"We're particularly proud of this fund as we allocated £50,000 from the town's Pride in Place fund and when it went live with Norfolk Community Foundation they were able to add a further £19,000 to the fund.

"When we asked residents what mattered to them, they were clear: they wanted investment in the fabric of everyday life. These nine organisations are living proof that we are delivering on that promise. This is by Thetford, forThetford, and we couldn't be prouder."

This fund is backing local charitable groups that are rooted in their neighbourhoods and creating real, everyday opportunities for Thetford. These awards show how relatively small amounts of funding, guided by local leadership, can unlock ideas, strengthen communities and create lasting impact."

The Community Support Fund forThetford was set up by the Thetford Neighbourhood Board in partnership with Norfolk Community Foundation as part of the Pride in Place Programme, offering grants of up to £10,000 to local voluntary and community organisations. The Fund is delivering on Thetford's 10-year regeneration plan, shaped by what residents, businesses and the community said matters most to them.
